MediaCorp's OKTO has launched what's touted as the first kids' congress in Singapore.

Some 200 children from various primary schools came together recently to interact and share their views on making their school experience joyful and meaningful.

They took part in a one-day congress where they shared experiences and engaged in discussions on how to make the school experience more fruitful and enjoyable.

Workshops and talks were also organised to develop self-confidence in the kids.

Chloe Chan, a student from Qihua Primary School, said: "I find this congress very meaningful, because I get to learn a lot of things, like teamwork. I've learned about adapting, to different people, and getting used to different people, because this time, all the people that we worked with during the activities, were from different schools."

OKTO aims to make the kids congress a yearly event, with the hope that more kids will be empowered to speak up and contribute to society.
