A 43-year-old man is currently under investigation for making a false police report in order to delay making payment on a loan to his friend.
At about 8.35pm on July 9, he reported to the police that he had been robbed of over $2,000 by two men along Tampines Street 83.
Upon receiving the report, police officers conducted on-scene investigations and ground enquiries. During the course of investigations, officers noticed discrepancies in the suspect's account of the incident.
Through follow-up interviews, he eventually admitted to making a false report.
If convicted, he could be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year and be fined up to $5,000 for giving false information to a public servant.
