M1 to launch islandwide 4G network near end of Q3

Telco M1 said on Monday that it will launch islandwide services for the latest, faster mobile phone data network known as 4G towards the end of the third quarter.

'Tiered smartphone plans will be announced at the same time,' said the company in a statement, as it announced its second quarter financial results.

M1 had introduced 4G, also known as long-term evolution (LTE) services, in the Central Business District for businesses last June.

The firm had said it would launch the service islandwide in the second half of this year.
