Penang Barisan Nasional Youth is offering a RM5,000 (S$2,000) reward for those who have information on the snatch theft that caused the senseless death of widow Tan Kim Chuan on Tuesday.

The wing's members distributed 2,000 flyers to residents in the Rifle Range neighbourhood seeking information on the 60-year-old's untimely death.

Penang Barisan Youth chief Oh Tong Keong said the monetary offer was first released on Thursday but nobody had approached them yet with information on the heartless culprit who assaulted Tan before fleeing with her handbag.

"Those with information should relay it at the nearest police station," he said.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said police have since increased patrols.
