Sembawang snatch thief nabbed

IS THERE ANYONE ELSE?
Police have nabbed a man for a case of snatch theft at Block 315 Sembawang Close.

The 23-year-old suspect had allegedly snatched the handphone of a woman who was on her way home.

He then boarded a passing taxi and fled the scene.

The incident happened in February at about 11.10pm.

Police worked closely with taxi companies and managed to establish the identity of the suspect.

He was eventually arrested on 7 May at about 1.45pm at his home in Bedok Reservoir Road.

The suspect will be charged on Wednesday.

If convicted, he could be jailed up to seven years and caned.
