Visitors to Marina Bay will be able to enjoy cycling along a 2.5-kilometre path by the first quarter of 2013.
It is the first phase of work for a cycling network taking shape at Marina Bay.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is starting work on the first phase, covering a section of Marina Boulevard, Bayfront Avenue and Marina Gardens Drive.
The rest of the cycling network will be developed in tandem with the development of the area.
By 2014, cyclists can look forward to 16 kilometres of cycling paths within Marina Bay.
Dr Chin Kian Keong, LTA's Group Director of Road Operations and Community Partnership, said: "When fully completed, the cycling network in Marina Bay will enhance cyclists' experience to nearby attractions like the Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay. It will also enhance the area's draw as a recreational and leisure destination amongst Singaporeans and tourists."
