Holidaying this June? Here's the first thing on your checklist

Check your passport validity first!

With the June holidays around the corner, Singaporeans are advised to check the validity of their passports and apply for their new passports early to avoid inconvenience overseas.

The Immigration Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a press release today that applicants should avoid going to the ICA building during peak periods such as Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays, school holidays and the eve of public holidays.

Alternatively, applicants may submit an application online via APPLES (Application for Passport On-Line Electronic System) through www.ica.gov.sg or download an application form from the ICA website and submit it by post or via self-service kiosks at the eLobby@ICA at the ground level of the ICA Building.

Most countries require passports to be valid for at least six months as part of their entry requirements.

New passports issued will be valid for five years. For renewal applications, the new passports issued will be valid for five years plus the remaining validity from your existing passport, capped at five years nine months.
