Terengganu will face off with Malaysia Super League rivals Kelantan in the AFC Cup Round of 16 after finishing second in Group F on Tuesday.
The Turtles needed a win in their final group game against Hong Kong's Kitchee to grab home advantage in the one-legged Round of 16 but were held to a 2-2 draw at the Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground.
Jordi Tarres gave the hosts the lead after just nine minutes when he glanced home a header from six yards, although Terengganu immediately hit back Asha'ri Shamsuddin six minutes later.
Tarres grabbed his second just before the break when he raced through on goal and lifted his shot over Sharmiza Yusoff, but Abdul Hadi Yahya stole a share of the spoils for the visitors when he netted from the spot in the 70th minute.
Nonetheless, the result was enough for Kitchee to hold on to top spot in the group, and they will now meet Indonesia Super League side Arema in the next round.
Elsewhere in the group, Song Lam Nghe An condemned Tampines Rovers to bottom spot after recording a 3-0 win over the Stags at the Vinh Stadium, thanks to Le The Cuong's brace and a Abass Chiekh Dieng strike.
Over in Group B, East Bengal ended their campaign without a single point after they were defeated by Kazma 2-1.
The Indian side did well to cancel out Ismail Al Ajmi's 7th-minute opener when Edmilson equalised in the 19th minute, but things took a turn for the worse when Saikat Saha Roy was sent off in ten minutes before the break.
Still, it took Kazma until injury time to make their numerical advantage count when Mashari Al Azmi fired a long-range strike past Gurpreet Singh to wrap up the three points.
