Two Singaporeans have died of altitude sickness while visiting a sacred mountain in the Tibetan autonomous region in China, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) confirmed on Tuesday.
They were part of a 10-member tour group visiting Mount Kailash in western Tibet.
The two - a 66-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman - died on Monday after developing severe mountain illness and could not be rescued in time, a Chinese outdoor news website - www.8264.com - reported.
Local police are looking into the matter, it added.
