Olympics-bound athletes get $10.5k help from British Chamber of Commerce Singapore

A total of S$10,500 was disbursed to eight Singapore Sports School student-athletes by the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BCCS) to aid in their bid to qualify for the upcoming July 27 to Aug 12 London Olympics.

The eight are swimmers Amanda Lim, Mylene Ong and Tao Li, sailors Victoria Chan and Scott Glen Sydney, and Dipna Lim-Prasad, Valerie Pereira and Stefan Tseng, who are all from the Sports School's track and field academy.

Singapore Sports School principal Deborah Tan received the cheque on their behalf from BCCS president Steve Puckett at a luncheon at the Raffles Hotel today.

Mooted after London were named hosts of the 2012 Olympics at the 117th International Olympic Committee Session in Singapore in 2005, the BCCS-Dream 2012 initiative aims to provide monetary support to help elite Singapore athletes pursue their dream of competing at the London Games.
