Track the total energy consumption in your house and calculate the energy costs of your household appliances in a few simple steps with the help of National Environment Agency's (NEA) new mobile applications (apps).
The 'NEA Energy Audit' (Ref: http://itunes.apple.com/sg/app/nea-energy-audit/id503459578?mt=8) allows you to select the number of rooms you have in your house and enter the duration of use for electrical appliances in each room. The app will help you monitor your entire family's energy usage.
Also aiming to help families cut energy costs, the 'Life Cycle Cost Calculator' (Ref: http://itunes.apple.com/sg/app/myenv/id444435182?mt=8) will help you calculate and compare costs incurred from usage of different models of air-conditioners, refrigerators and clothes dryers. These three appliances are among the most energy-intensive home appliances, according to NEA.
Both apps are available for free on the Apple app store. The two new apps complement the popular 'my ENV' app (Ref: http://itunes.apple.com/sg/app/life-cycle-cost-calculator/id515908851?mt=8) which was launched in June 2011 and is now available on Android.
