It also prevent birds from flying into residents' homes.
The Pasir Ris-Punggol town council decided to install nettings after receiving feedback on bird nuisance.
Each net costs between S$800 and S$3,000, depending on the size and height of the building.
To deal with the issue of rubbish getting caught in the nettings, a zip has been sewn in to allow cleaners to open the net and clear the trash.
"We are happy that these nettings served as a deterrent for the birds. There was positive feedback from the residents. That itself encouraged us to implement similar nettings in the other areas," said Teo Ser Luck, MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.
