Groom-to-be crushed by tow truck in BKE accident

A groom-to-be was killed in a traffic accident just a week after taking part in a photo shoot for his wedding.

Guo Zhi Hua, 32, was riding his motorcycle on his way to work on 11 April when he was hit by a lorry.

He fell into the path of a tow truck and was crushed by the heavy vehicle.

The accident happened at about 7am on the Bukit Timah Expressway towards the city.

A day after the accident, Mr Guo’s fiancée, sales manager Lin Hui Qing, was at the morgue with more than 20 family members and friends to claim his body.

Speaking to reporters, the tearful 26-year-old said Mr Guo was on his way to work when he was hit by a lorry.

“He probably didn’t manage to get up when he was run over by a Malaysian-registered tow truck,” she said.

Both drivers did not stop after the accident. The 61-year-old driver of the tow truck was caught after other motorists gave police the licence plate number of his vehicle.

Police are still looking for the driver of the white lorry that hit Mr Guo and caused him to fall.

Mr Guo and his fiancée had just returned from Taipei last week after their wedding photo shoot.

The couple were planning to register their marriage in March next year.
