Youth assaulted at chalet after staring incident, five arrested

An 18-year-old teenage boy was assaulted by a group of strangers after an alleged staring incident at the Pasir Ris Costa Sands Chalet.

Five male suspects, aged between 15 and 22, have been arrested for their involvement in the case.

Police said in a statement that they were alerted to the incident at 1.35am Thursday morning, and upon arrival, found the victim injured at the chalet. He was conveyed to Changi General Hospital for treatment.

Officers from the Bedok Police Division later managed to establish the identities of the suspects.

Two of the suspects, both aged 20, were swiftly arrested at Pasir Ris Costa Sands while three others, aged between 15 and 22, were rounded-up later today at about 5.55pm.

The five men will be charged in court tomorrow for rioting. If found guilty, they each face a jail term of up to seven years, and may also be caned.
