Woman slapped at Nex library over hogged seats

The incident happened at about 4.10pm at the fourth floor library in the Nex mall located at Serangoon MRT station.

Mdm Huang (48, missionary) explained to reporters that she was with her sister in the library to rest and chat before going for a movie at the cinema upstairs.

The two were at the area set aside for people to browse the day's newspapers and Mdm Huang was sitting on the floor while her sister was on a chair.

At the time, Mdm Huang noted that the seat beside her was vacant.

Suddenly a man in his 30s went up to them and started scolding them for occupying the space in the library.

In the heat of the confrontation, the man had allegedly even slapped Mdm Huang.

Outraged, Mdm Huang called the police, who arrived to take down their statements.

The man was, however, not arrested, and Mdm Huang remains fuming over the incident.
