Woman fined for spraying insecticide at neighbour's child

A woman was given the maximum fine of $2,500 on Tuesday for committing a rash act by spraying insecticide at a neighbour's one-year-old son.

IT programmer Kong Yow Meow, 59, pleaded guilty to endangering the personal safety of others along the common corridor outside her flat in Bedok North Avenue 1 on June 25, 2011.

The court heard that Kong was unhappy with the noise caused by the victim and his brother who were playing outside her unit.

She shouted at the victim before taking a can of Shieldtox insecticide and spraying in his direction.
