Married man jailed, caned for molesting flatmate

A Filipino man was sentenced to 30 months' jail and six strokes of the cane for molesting his flatmate when she was taking a shower.

The assistant supervisor pleaded guilty to one charge of outraging the modesty of the 27-year-old woman, and another charge of wrongful restraint.

On June 6 last year, the woman was taking a shower in the bathroom of the flat they shared when she saw him standing at the bathroom door.

The man, who is married and has a six-year-old son, went on to kiss her face and neck. He later overpowered her and touched her groin.

The woman managed to escape to her bedroom and the told another flatmate about the incident.

The man, who is a first-time offender, will also not be able to remain in Singapore.
