Lawyers from one of Singapore's larger law firms, Harry Elias Partnership, will be spending at least 25 hours a year on pro bono work, heeding the call for more lawyers to serve the under-privileged.

In the opening of the legal year in January, the Chief Justice had called for lawyers to take on more pro bono cases and also outlined programmes to encourage pro bono work.
In a press statement, the firm said that specifying the number of hours that its lawyers would contribute at the firm-level, would formalise its commitment to supporting pro bono work.
