Luxury cars targeted by arsonists in KL

Arsonists have struck again!

This time the culprits, believed to be the same men on a motorcycle who had been torching luxury cars around the city last weekend, set another Mercedes Benz on fire in Sentul here.

The incident in Jalan Kovvil Ulu took place at 7.15am on Friday when the owner was still asleep in his house 50m away.

The owner, who is in his 50s, said the fire was so blazing hot that he and neighbours did not dare to get close enough to extinguish it.

"I can't think of any reason why the culprits did this to my car.

"I was told by police that my car was not the only one that was torched this week and there were arsonists targeting luxury cars around the city.

"I hope these people will be caught soon."

Meanwhile, city CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah when contacted, confirmed the incident.

He said the car was almost completely destroyed in the incident, and police had intensified their investigations to nab the suspects.

It was reported yesterday that police were searching for the suspects, said to be two men on a motorcycle, who are believed to be behind the torching of at least 10 cars in seven residential areas in the city over last weekend.

The residential areas were Bukit Bandaraya in Bangsar; Jalan Kasipillay, Jalan Duku, Jalan Ismail Ghaney and Jalan Ipoh in Sentul; Lorong Tiong Nam 7, off Jalan Raja Laut, and Jalan Datuk Eusoff in the city centre.

Initial investigations revealed that the arsonists targeted luxury cars -- among them were a Porsche, Mercedes Benz and several BMWs.
