The Home Team at the Ministry of Home Affairs plans to recruit some 2,100 officers by the end of this year.
This was announced at the HOME Awards and Degree Sponsorship Presentation Ceremony held on Saturday morning at Ngee Ann City's Civic Plaza.
To attract new officers, the starting pay for diploma holders will see a five per cent increment - between $2,140 to $2,370. In addition, a new sign-on bonus ranging from $8,000 to $10,000 will be introduced for new diploma holders joining the Home Team.
To retain officers, the Retention Payment Scheme for Junior Uniformed Officers has also been revised. At the end of 13 years of service, officers will receive a total retention package ranging from $34,000 to $50,000.
