The long-time grouse of commuters about the cumbersome claim process for fares has been heard: From today, they will be able to have refunds - from claims filed earlier - credited to their transit cards at TransitLink's ticket offices and purple Add Value Machines island-wide.
Refunds can also be credited to their accounts with 14 more GIRO-participating banks, apart from DBS and POSB.
Commuters will also be able to access more e-services on the redesigned TransitLink website. They can check if their lost concession cards have been found and apply and pay for a replacement card online.
The time taken to replace a concession card will be halved from 10 to five days. Senior citizens may also apply for concession cards online, although the option to apply at a ticket office or via traditional mail will remain.
More improvements to TransitLink's infrastructure are in the pipeline: In the third quarter of this year, the 74 Add Value Machines will be upgraded to provide on-the-spot collection of refunds, which TransitLink expects will apply to seven in 10 of the refund claims made. The purple machines will also be able to email travel transactions to commuters and will be equipped with an intercom to provide on-the-spot assistance to users.
TransitLink will also try out a hybrid office that offers ticketing, claims processing and concession card replacement services at one location - to be specified later.
