WP Yaw's personal life under scrutiny as ex-wife opens up

Public scrutiny on Worker's Party (WP) member Mr Yaw Shin Leong love life has been intense ever since rumours surfaced three weeks ago that the Hougang Member of Parliament (MP) had an affair with a married female WP member.

In the latest turn of events surrounding his surprise resignation from his party's leadership, his former wife has stepped forward to state that it was not adultery on his part that ended their marriage.

Mr Yaw's first marriage in 2004 to 35-year-old Ms Ng Mei Sze, a teacher and a head of department at a top school, lasted for only about a year. The couple did not live together during their brief married life, and have not spoken to each other ever since their relationship fell apart.

She did not specify what caused the breakdown.

In 2006, Mr Yaw reportedly became attached to his current wife, Madam Lau Wang Lin, and married her in November 2008.
