2 Bedok food centres to close for upgrading

Blk 16 Bedok South Road Market & Food Centre, popular for fishball noodles and cuttlefish kangkong, will be closed for upgrading from February 13 to mid-December.

Meanwhile the facelift for Blk 85 Bedok North Street 4 Market & Food Centre, more commonly known as "85 Fengshan Centre" and well-known for its Bak Chor Mee noodles, Hokkien Mee and porridge; will be closed on February 16 and is expected to reopen in early 2013.

The upgraded centres will feature wider passageways and cooler ventilation as the cooked food stalls will be fitted with mechanical exhaust systems. The public toilets will also be upgraded.

Also, the number of seats at Blk 16 Bedok South Road will be increased from 1027 to 1096, while the number of seats at Blk 85 Bedok North Street 4 will go up from 894 to 1196.
