ITE to increase course fees

The Institute of Technical Education (ITE) is raising its course fees for Academic Year (AY) 2012, with a sharper increase for permanent resident (PR) students than for Singaporeans. (CLICK HERE to read more on the increase for foreign students)

For Nitec courses, fees for Singapore citizens for AY2012 will be increased by S$20, from S$280 to S$300 per year - a 7 per cent increase.

For Higher Nitec courses, fees will be increased 3.8 per cent from S$516 to S$536 per year.

The new fee structure applies to both new and existing Singaporean students.

For Technical Engineer Diploma courses, fees for AY2012 will be increased by S$50 or 2.3 per cent, from S$2,200 to S$2,250 per year for new and existing Singaporean students.

For Technical Diploma in Culinary Arts course, fees for AY2012 will be increased by S$50 or 2 per cent, from S$2,510 to S$2,560 per year for new and existing Singaporean students.

The ITE said the fee increases for AY2012 are necessary to help the institution defray the rising costs of delivering high-quality education.

The ITE will continue to receive a substantial subsidy from the government to cover the bulk of its costs.
