Explosion at Kranji Water Reclamation Plant, three workers injured

Three Bangladeshi workers were injured in an explosion at the Kranji Water Reclamation Plant on Thursday night.

The men were working at an empty sludge storage tank when an explosion occurred at an adjacent tank at around 11.30pm, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) said in a statement.

They were taken to the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. One of them was discharged on the same day, while the other two, who suffered head and leg injuries, are still in hospital in a stable condition.

As a safety precaution, PUB has ceased operations of the sludge storage tanks, and is conducting an investigation with the Ministry of Manpower.
