CNB nabs 89 in drug blitz

Eighty-nine suspected drug offenders have been arrested in a 48-hour operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

Eight of those arrested are suspected to be involved in drug trafficking. The remaining 81 were arrested for suspected drug abuse offences.

The raids covered various parts of Singapore including Ang Mo Kio, Balam Road, Balestier, Bishan, Bukit Batok, Circuit Road, Joo Chiat and North Bridge Road.

Besides the arrests, CNB officers seized an assortment of drugs worth approximately S$48,000, the bulk of which was recovered in the raid at a hotel in Joo Chiat.

CNB's director Ng Ser Song said this is a strong signal to drug abusers and pushers that CNB has zero tolerance towards drug abuse and will not let up in their efforts to keep Singapore safe from drugs.
