Body of man found in rubbish chute in Bukit Merah

The body of a man was found upside down in a rubbish chute this morning at Bukit Merah.

A cleaner had opened up the chute at Block 55 Lengkok Bahru to remove garbage at about 9.40am when he noticed a man's leg dangling from the side of the bin.

The corpse appeared to be a middle-aged man with tattoos all over his body. He is believed to have resided on the 13th floor with his wife who had been asleep until the police officers arrived to inform her of the incident.

Criminal investigation and forensic officers subsequently obtained items like a pack of cigarettes, a lighter, and some keys from a vacant unit on the 14th floor.

Investigations are ongoing.
