80,000 set to benefit from MOE's financial aid

Currently, there are about 40,000 students who benefit from MOE's financial assistance scheme, under which the students will be fully subsidised for their school fees, uniforms and textbooks, and receive a 75 per cent subsidy on their exam fees.

Last Friday, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam had announced that the current household income ceiling of S$1,500 will be raised to S$2,500. The move will double the number of beneficiaries to 80,000.
