Police have arrested a 25-year-old man who is suspected to have committed a case of snatch theft along Yishun Ring Road.
On 24 December 2011 at about 1pm, a 72-year-old woman was walking along Yishun Ring Road when an unknown man stopped her to ask for directions. All of a sudden, the man snatched away her two gold necklaces worth about S$3200 and fled on a motorcycle which was parked nearby.

Thereafter, through close collaboration with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and the Immigration Checkpoint Authority ( ICA ), the identity of the suspect was established. On 5 January 2012 at about 3.30am, the suspect was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 6 January 2012 for an offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to seven years and shall be liable to caning.
