S'pore firms to showcase products at US tech event

Home grown consumer-electronics firm Xtreme DSP Global may be just a three-year- old start-up, but it already has ambitious plans.

Leveraging on its strength in developing wireless communication devices, its directors are now aiming to break into the niche market of high-quality, affordable noise-cancellation wireless audio devices for motorcyclists.

It may sound like a huge challenge, especially considering that powerful noise-reduction technology is needed to cancel out the loud wind noises as motorcyclists travel at high speeds.

But the company is all set for the niche market with its two new products, the Raptor and Raptor-i.

Compact and easy to attach to motorcycle helmets, Raptor can be synced to MP3 players or GPS devices, enabling riders to enjoy their favourite tunes or receive directions on the go.

Raptor-i has an additional intercom function that allows three riders within 500m of one another to communicate.

The waterproof all-weather Raptor and Raptor-i also come with microphones that can be attached to both full-face and open-face helmets, and are set to retail at $138 and $198 respectively.

The two products will be launched at the prestigious Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which begins in Las Vegas on Tuesday, alongside the latest top products of nine other Singapore-based firms.
