RSAF man's wife killed in US highway accident

The wife of a Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) serviceman was killed in an motor accident along a rain-slicked highway in the United States last Friday.

A statement from the Idaho State Police said Ms Pey Ah Hoon, 33, was not wearing a seat belt while riding in a Chrysler van driven by her husband, Mr Lim Boon, 34. She was flung from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Also in the van - and injured - were Ms Pey's mother, 59, and the couple's three children, the youngest just four months old. The police said the other two were one-year-old twins.

The family had been headed for Mountain Home Air Force Base, where the RSAF's F-15SG fighter detachment is stationed. Mr Lim, then off-duty, is part of the 428th Fighter Squadron based there, although The Straits Times understands he is not a pilot.
