LIONSXII 1 (Shahril Ishak 57) JOHOR FC 0
HIS TEAM may have been the first side to fall victim to the LionsXII, but Johor FC coach K Devan delivered a scathing assessment of the Singaporean side after the hosts notched a 1-0 victory at the Jalan Besar Stadium last night.
The 50-year-old said: "Tonight, a few established players decided the outcome of the match...Looking at tonight's performance, it's going to be tough (for the LionsXII team to win the Malaysian Super League).
"Although I feel the LionsXII will get better, to finish in the top five may be a bit tough for them."
Whatever the case, the delight and relief on LionsXII skipper Shahril Ishak's face were unmistakeable after he finished off a superb team goal in the 57th minute to give them their maiden victory and a first clean sheet in front of more than 2,000 fans.
