LionsXII Fazli Ayob is a HOME boy
WHEN he's not scoring stunning goals on the pitch, LionsXII forward Fazli Ayob is out trying to save lives.
The 21-year-old, who is currently serving his national service in the Singapore Civil Defence Force as a firefighter, has seen his fair share of action since he enlisted in late 2010.
But it's all in the line of duty, he would say. And that's exactly the same attitude he carries with him onto the football pitch.
With aggression, pace and a willingness to run at defenders, Fazli – who is comfortable on either wing or up front – could turn out to be one of the wildcards for the LionsXII team if they need inspiration from the bench.
He has a penchant for spectacular goals – a half-volley into the top corner against Laos at the 2009 SEA Games and a wonderful snapshot for the Young Lions last season in front of Eric Cantona are just two examples in recent times.
