Cabby stabs two with scissors over petty parking issue

An argument over parking turned violent when a taxi driver allegedly used a pair of scissors to injure two men.

It started after the cabby stopped his taxi at the side of the road of a HDB estate to wait for his relief driver to arrive.

Minutes later, three men approached him and said that he was not supposed to park there.

When he drove to a dead-end road near a rubbish dump at Block 185, Pasir Ris Street 11, the men told him that he could not stop there either.

The relief cabby subsequently arrived and got into the taxi, but the men stood in front of it to prevent them from leaving. He claimed that the group also hurled vulgarities.

The main cabby then got out of the cab with a pair of scissors. A fight broke out, leaving bloody stains along the corridor and on the exterior of a convenience store.

The relief driver said when a man in the group punched the cabby, he retaliated by blocking his face with his hands and cut his opponent.

A police spokesman confirmed the incident and said: "One man, 58, was placed under arrest for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon or means.

"Two other men, aged 35 and 63, were arrested for affray."

All three men were taken to Changi General Hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
