Wireless@SG boasts some 7,500 hot spots throughout the island. More than one-third of them are run by iCell Network, which is taking the lead on this initiative.

In the past, users had to go to a separate login webpage or download an application, and then key in their login credentials to switch to Wireless@SG.
The Government is in talks with various parties to upgrade the country's free public Wi-Fi system and ease mobile network congestion here caused by an unexpected surge in Internet data usage.
The move will allow users who experience slow surfing speeds on their third-generation, or 3G, smartphones to switch seamlessly to the nationwide Wi-Fi network, dubbed Wireless@SG, for faster access.
HOW THE NEW SYSTEM WORKSUnder the new system, users will be recognised automatically on Wireless@SG by the 3G SIM cards in their smartphones or tablet computers.
Users will just need to click 'OK' to a text message sent by their telcos the first time they are recognised by a Wireless@SG hot spot.
Once this is done, Wi-Fi access will be prioritised over 3G access every time the user needs to surf the Internet or download e-mail messages.
