The additional platform means more trains can be deployed so that evening train frequencies can be improved to two to three minutes, from the current two to four. Station ambassadors have also been deployed to guide passengers to the new platform for the next two weeks.

In other news, there was another delay on the North-South Line yesterday, causing a jam on the new platform at around 6.45pm. SMRT said the six-minute delay was due to a signalling fault at Ang Mo Kio Station but was resolved in about 10 minutes.
The operator is currently testing 17 new trains, which will be put into operation progressively next year.
Meanwhile, the shuttle train trips running between Jurong East and Yew Tee will also be extended to Marsiling Station, with 18 such trips between 5pm and 8.30pm every day.
However, the five "cross-line" direct train services that run from Ang Mo Kio to Pasir Ris (via Jurong East) on weekday mornings will be removed.
This is to allow for better frequency of service for passengers boarding between Joo Koon and Chinese Garden.
