
A total of 50 names have been proposed to the committee considering appointments of Nominated Members of Parliament (NMPs), of which 34 came from the public, including unionist Mary Liew, 49, actress Janice Koh, 37, Association of Small and Medium Enterprises vice-president Kurt Wee, 37, Singapore Management University law lecturer Eugene Tan, 41, and National University of Singapore sociologist Paulin Straughan, 48.
The Special Select Committee will be meeting to consider eligible candidates next month.
