Several commuters decided to stay away from taking the MRT, even when services resumed in the afternoon.

At about 4pm on Saturday, Dhoby Ghaut area was spotted with long taxi queues and packed bus stops.

A commuter said: "Not today, with all the disruptions."

Another said: "There is something happening down there. There is a lot of crowd in the MRT station."

A commuter said: "I'm not very sure if the MRT is up already so I rather take a taxi, it's more reliable."

One even said: "No way, I'm definitely not taking the MRT."
