In S'pore, man strips, beats wife over daughter's vomiting

The couple had argued over their two-year-old daughter on March 2. The toddler had vomited earlier in the living room of their Bedok South home.

27-year-old odd-job labourer Abdul Haleem Mohamed Nasser, 27, then scolded the child and placed his hand on her neck, which caused Madam Nur Ruzanna Jamaludin, 24, to try and take the child away from him. But he refused and slapped her.

Madam Ruzanna then feared for her daughter's safety and tried to grab the girl, but Haleem pulled her by the hair into the bedroom, where he began to abuse her. He had also threatened her by saying: 'You think I don't dare to place you naked outside the house'.

He subsequently stripped his wife naked, tied her with wires and scotch tape and began hitting her, causing her to suffer fractures to her ribs and a broken right pubic spine from the abuse.

Abdul Haleem Mohamed Nasser was jailed for 15 months and ordered to be given six strokes.

Madam Ruzanna has since forgiven him.
