Managing director Derek Llambias said on Friday: "We have today received a request from Louise Speed to postpone the club's planned tribute to her husband Gary so that she can join us at the stadium when our tribute takes place. Louise has been very touched by the plans and expressed a desire to be present."

A number of Speed's former team-mates will be at Goodison Park on Sunday to take part in a minute's applause ahead of the Barclays Premier League clash with Stoke.

Speed grew up supporting Everton as a child in north Wales and became a firm fans' favourite when he eventually joined the club in 1996 after beginning his career with Leeds.
