21 S'poreans stranded at Johor national park

Malaysian authorities said a group of 21 Singaporeans and three Malaysians was trekking in the national park and was scheduled to leave on Sunday.

Travelling in four-wheel drive vehicles, they ran into difficulties while crossing the Lomako river, which had swelled after heavy rains over the past few days.

They then drove back to the national park's office for help where Malaysian authorities subsequently rescued them by helicopter.

The MFA said its officers had worked closely with the Malaysian authorities to ensure the well-being and safe return of the affected Singaporeans.

The Singapore Consulate-General in Johor Baru has also conveyed its appreciation to the Malaysian authorities for their help.
