He may not have been elected as Singapore's seventh President, but Dr Tan Cheng Bock felt that he owed something to those who voted for him. He said: "I think I owe something to the voters. Many of them have given me their votes and I should say thank you to them."
Starting at 7.30am at Commonwealth, with his family and 30 supporters, Dr Tan hopped on a open-top double-decker bus with the aim of covering 25 locations around the island.
While driving through housing estates, Dr Tan received smiles, friendly car honks and waves of approval.
He posed for photos with supporters, shook hands and signed autographs on campaign souvenirs.
