Number of PAP Community Foundation childcare centres to increase

The PAP Community Foundation (PCF) will continue to open more childcare centres within the next one to two years, in line with a government masterplan to increase the number of such centres by 2013.

Chairman of the PCF's executive committee, Minister of State for defence and education Lawrence Wong said that the expansion is in line with a masterplan by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.

Under that plan, the ministry intends to have 940 childcare centres with 83,000 childcare places by 2013, roughly a 30 per cent increase from 2008 when the plan was first announced.
