Expat students among 17 nabbed for drug offences

A 13-year-old expatriate boy was among 15 young people - mostly students from international schools - arrested on Wednesday for allegedly consuming drugs.

Four of them are Singaporeans or permanent residents. The rest are from the United States, Britain, France, India, South Africa, Indonesia and New Zealand. The 13-year-old boy was the youngest. The oldest was a 25-year-old international student from a local university.

They were believed to have bought cannabis from a 37-year-old man, a permanent resident, who was also nabbed during an 18-hour islandwide operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB). A Singaporean youth, believed to be the man's associate, was arrested as well.
