Some 614 pairs took part in the "Dads For Life 800m Father and Child Challenge", a new category introduced this year to the annual running event, which is into its 20th year.

Organisers of the SSBR & AHM said the new category was a result of a two-year partnership with the "Dads For Life" movement to promote active fathering through SAFRA's activities.

Meanwhile, more than 70,000 runners took part in the SSBR & AHM, which featured 21km, 10km and 5km routes.

Coming in first in the Men's Open category was Kiproo lilan Kennedy, who completed the 21km route in 01:06:10.1.

The Women's Open title went to Eunice Nyawira, who clocked 01:15:56.9 for 21km.
