The Elections Department has set Aug 3 as the cut-off date for the removal from any Register of Electors the name of any person where the registration officer believes that the address of that individual as shown in the register has ceased to exist, according to a Government Gazette announcement yesterday.
That would also be the date to transfer the name of anyone to the appropriate Register of Electors where the person has notified the Commissioner of National Registration in writing of his change of address.
With this latest development, the Writ of Election is expected to be issued after Aug 3 - around the same time as it was done in the 2005 Presidential Election.
Affected voters have until Aug 1 to check the register. They can do so at the Elections Department and at designated community centres and community clubs, a list of which is available at the Elections Department's website. They can also inspect the register online at www.elections.gov.sg.
The Elections Department also reminded those who had failed to vote in the recent General Election to apply to restore their names to the Registers of Electors.
