S'pore exports show further weakness

Singapore's exports have shown more signs of slowing down in June, according to figures released on Monday by trade agency IE Singapore.

In June, non-oil domestic exports (NODX) rose 1.1 per cent year-on-year, below the market consensus of 3.6 per cent and May's expansion of 7.6 per cent.

The electronics segment continued to decline, contracting 17 per cent, after dropping 15 per cent in May.

The decrease was largely due to a drop in demand for parts of integrated circuits, disk drives and personal computers.

Half of Singapore's top ten export markets grew, while the rest contracted.
