Punggol residents attempt to break world cha-cha record

PUNGGOL residents came together on Sunday to celebrate racial and religious harmony at a street festival.

The annual Punggol North Racial Harmony Street Parade, the seventh to date to be organised by the Punggol North Constituency Office, drew 10,000 participants, including 3,400 students and residents who kicked off the event in an attempt to win the Guinness World Record for the most number of cha-cha dancers.

The previous record for the most number of cha-cha dancers was held since 2008 by Poland, with 3,270 dancers. London-based Guinness will announce whether the attempt succeeded in six weeks time.
