Man charged with offering illegal bets in casino

A PATRON of the Resorts World Sentosa casino was charged on Tuesday with three counts of offering illegal bets in July and August 2010 within the casino.

Ng Ah Chye, 50, is accused of allegedly approaching other patrons and offering private bets while they were at the gaming tables.

His case will be heard again on April 19 after he had asked for an adjournment.

If found guilty for acting as an illegal bookmaker, he could be fined between $20,000 and $200,000 and/or jailed up to five years on each charge.
