The 45-year-old, who is a senior manager in a semi-conductor company and hails from Chennai, recounted to tabla! the incident which incidentally coincided with his wife going into labour unexpectedly.
"I called the hospital and they advised me that it would be much faster if I took a taxi instead of waiting for an ambulance. I did as they told me and my wife's water broke in the taxi. The taxi driver didn't mind and did his best to get us there very fast.
When I got to the hospital, everything was prepared for her and five minutes after we got there, my daughter was born," recalled Mr Natarajan.
"The taxi driver even called me up later to find out how the baby was doing. I was so impressed with not only Singapore's efficiency but the kindness of the taxi driver. It was then that I started thinking about making Singapore my home."
Last year, 17 years after he arrived here, he started the process to become a Singapore citizen and recently finished the pilot of the Singapore Citizenship Journey programme by the National Population and Talent Division (NPTD) which was fully rolled out at the end of March.
Mr Natarajan said that the journey was well-planned and executed. Out of the three components, he got the most, out of the tours to places like the URA City Gallery, the National Museum and Parliament House.
